While brushing and flossing each day keeps your teeth and gums healthy, taking the additional step of using mouthwash can further freshen your mouth.
If you’re seeking a natural and affordable way to rinse your mouth, consider a common ingredient that’s likely sitting in your refrigerator or on your pantry shelf.
Here’s how: Mix half a teaspoon of baking soda with a half a glass of water. Not only is baking soda inexpensive, but your mouth won’t be exposed to alcohol or harsh chemicals that are often found in commercial mouth rinses.
If you want to have minty fresh breath, consider adding a drop of peppermint or wintergreen oil.
Regardless of the recipe you concoct, natural mouth rinses won’t just freshen breath, but may help to prevent cavities and keep bacteria at bay.
Starting your child on the path to excellent oral health begins with their first trip to the dentist. That first visit should probably occur before your child turns one.
If your child is older, it’s a good idea to discuss what to expect before their first appointment. Our friendly staff can also give your child a brief tour of the practice so it will become a comfortable place they’ll look forward to visiting for a lifetime.
Here’s how you can make your child’s visit to our practice go swimmingly:
• Consider the time of day you schedule your child’s appointment. Choose a quiet time of the day when your child isn’t overly tired, fussy or nearing nap-time.
• Consider having your child watch you experience your dental checkup before they have theirs.
We look forward to making all of your child’s appointments at our dental practice happy and pleasant ones.
Want to keep your pearly whites for life? Consider fortifying your teeth and body with calcium, an abundant mineral essential for the body.
While it’s common knowledge that calcium is important when it comes to maintaining bone health, it’s also an essential mineral for keeping your teeth strong.
While dairy products like milk and cheeses can be good sources of calcium, there are plenty of vegan options. Consider certain vegetables like Bok Choy, spinach and collard greens.
Not keen on veggies? Fruits including oranges, tangerines and kiwi contain calcium too. Nuts such as almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts are also good for a calcium boost.
If you’re looking for other ways to include calcium in your diet, or if you’re unsure as to whether you’re getting sufficient calcium, we’d be happy to discuss dietary supplementation that will be sure to keep you smiling.
