3 Myths About Oral Health

3 Myths About Oral Health

One of our main goals as an oral health provider is to help patients understand fact from fiction when it comes to their teeth. Here are some of the most common myths we find ourselves dispelling!

You’ll always know when you have a cavity. By the time you feel pain from a cavity, it’s already been there for a while. During a routine dental exam, we often find cavities before patients even know they have one.

All fillings will need to be replaced. With advanced filling techniques today, it’s possible that your fillings will last a lifetime. Of course, it all comes down to how well you take care of your teeth. Proper brushing and flossing are needed for longevity.

Tooth sensitivity means you have decay. While it certainly can, it’s not always the case. Other common causes of sensitive teeth include clenching or grinding at night, eating foods that are too acidic, or using strong whitening toothpastes.
