Conquering Oral Thrush

Oral thrush, also known as oral candidiasis, is a common condition that is caused by an overgrowth of yeast, Candida albicans, in the mouth. This overgrowth can result in the formation of white patches on the tongue, inner cheeks, and gums.

Common causes can include an imbalance of natural bacteria due to medical conditions, medication and poor oral hygiene.

To treat oral thrush, antifungal medications are used, and it is important to maintain good oral hygiene, such as brushing and flossing, as well as avoiding sugary and high-carbohydrate foods.

It’s important to visit our practice if it’s something that you’ve noticed in your own mouth or your child’s mouth. We can help ensure swift proper treatment and make recommendations to help reduce the chance of it occurring again in the future.

Our team is dedicated to helping you achieve optimal oral health and will work with you to find the best solution for your individual needs. If you suspect oral thrush, book a visit with our team!
